Thanksgiving 2024

Happy Thanksgiving! Think about all you have to be thankful for this year. First, our salvation is secure in Christ Jesus alone. Death has no power over us. Praise God that this world is not our home, and our life continues on for eternity in heaven. Let’s also be thankful for family and friends. In this season, we reflect on what is really important. For our health. Many times we take our health for granted, but each day is a gift. Church and community is such a blessing. To have relationships with God, family and others. To be loved and to love.

Then, think about how God has provided for you. Our God has taken care of all our needs. We have food to eat (more than enough), clothes to wear (more than enough) and roofs over our heads. God has given us so much, and we need to be grateful for the way He protects and provides for us.

Our list of what we are thankful for could go on and on. We are all blessed more than we could ever dream or imagine.

This Thanksgiving, here are some ideas for how we can “enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.” Psalm 100

  1. Take time to write a “Thank You Note” to God. Seriously, write down all the ways you are thankful this year in a journal and then spend time praying with gratitude for all the ways God has provided and protected you this year. Let’s be the “one” who returns to give thanks to God as Jesus tells us in Luke 17.

  2. Take time to write a letter, send a text or email your family and friends a “Thank You Note.” Many times we don’t stop and thank those around us. Do it today. Get up early and send a note to let others know how thankful you are for them.

  1. Take time to give to someone in need around you. Remember this holiday is called, “Thanks” and “Giving.” There is something so powerful when we give. Our God so loved the world, “He gave.” Find a person you know or a ministry in need and be generous. From the Community Center or Food Bank to a nephew or your church, find a person or a place and give back. Think about all you have received in the past year from God - your job, a bonus, a stock market increase and more. Let’s be generous.

I am so thankful for each of you! It is a joy to be “church,” to share life together, to love, to serve and to pray for one another. We are truly the Body of Christ, and I love being on this journey with you. Know you are cared for and prayed for today!  I’m thankful for you!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Simmons family to you! You are loved by God and loved by us! I pray you have a wonderful Holiday season. Blessings on you and your family today!
