At church, we are in the middle of a Capital Campaign called NEXT. We are challenging everyone to take a NEXT step in their spiritual life. For some, this is a big step – salvation, baptism, joining the church, serving, being in a Small Group and more. This has been amazing to see! For others, it is a smaller step to grow deeper – praying for 30 minutes, reading God’s Word in a Daily Step, being generous, working on their marriage, discipling our kids. Every step is important, and even the small steps have a huge return on investment.
As a church, we have been so blessed with our first incredible 20 years of ministry. However, God is not finished with us (just like God is not finished with you). God is calling all of us together to take a NEXT step for Him and for His glory – The NEXT 20 years, The NEXT Generation, The NEXT Ministry, The NEXT Mission and The NEXT One. On Sunday, November 12, we have the opportunity to invest together in what God is calling us to NEXT…

As we study the book of Nehemiah in this season, it is remarkable to me that the people came together to do something great for God. The walls of Jerusalem were broken down for 70 years. No one did anything about it. They were all distracted with their own homes, vineyards, making money and more. But, finally, they came together to do something great for God – something that would impact countless generations as they set the table for the coming of Jesus – the first coming of the Messiah. They rebuilt the walls in 52 days, and their lives as well as our world were forever changed. All of us have been impacted by their sacrifice and investment.
What can God do through all of us at Rolling Hills together? As we pray, plan and prepare to make a Commitment to the Lord on November 12 understand that your investment will impact countless others. The NEXT One could be your child who will come to know Jesus or your future child. Maybe your grandchild. Maybe, a niece, nephew, co-worker, neighbor or friend. Most likely people you will never meet this side of heaven, but whose lives will be impacted and their eternities changed because of your sacrifice.
The fact is, we have all benefited from the sacrifice of those who have gone before us. Think about the church you grew up in. As a child, you didn’t pay for it or build it, but you might have accepted Christ there, been baptized there, been discipled there, been changed there. Or, even at Rolling Hills – we sit in buildings that others gave money to build. And, now it is our time and our turn. Nehemiah and the people had their day. The early disciples had their day. And, this is our day. Let’s pray, give, stretch and invest in building God’s Church.
Lisa and I are in! We have given over-and-above our tithe to six Capital Campaigns at Rolling Hills. Every time we have stretched and have watched God provided. I can’t wait to see Him do it again. All of our kids have been baptized and discipled at Rolling Hills. We are excited about who is the NEXT One to experience new life in Christ. There is no greater investment! Let’s join together to see what our God will do…NEXT.
